Ink, Chaos, and a Whole Lot of Love

There are days when I feel like I'm living three completely different lives.

By 7:30 in the morning, I'm answering phones, greeting students with a smile, comforting worried parents, juggling paperwork, and keeping the front office of a busy school running smoothly. Being a full-time school secretary means organization, patience, and expecting the unexpected.

By the time I clock out, my second job begins.

Mom.

Three kids, a baby girl with diapers & nap schedules, two boys learning how to read and control their emotions, laundry, dinner, cleaning, and the endless question of, "What's for dinner?"

And somewhere in between all of that, I'm the wife of a tattoo artist and shop owner.

It's not exactly the life most people picture, but it's ours—and I wouldn't trade it.

The Beauty of Two Completely Different Worlds

My weekdays are filled with bells ringing, attendance reports, and tiny voices saying, "Can I call my mom?"

My husband's days are filled with buzzing tattoo machines, sketchbooks, consultations, and transforming someone's story into permanent art.

At first glance, our careers couldn't be more different.

One is structured.

The other is creative.

One runs on schedules.

The other runs on inspiration.

Yet somehow, they fit together perfectly.

I spend my day helping children feel safe and cared for. He spends his day helping people feel confident and seen through meaningful artwork.

At the heart of both jobs is people.

When the Clock Doesn't Stop

There are evenings when I leave work exhausted only to head straight into mom mode.

Dinner needs to be made.

Backpacks need unpacking.

Laundry somehow multiplied while I was gone.

The baby wants mommy’s cuddles.

Someone needs help with homework and reading.

Another child can't find their favorite marble.

Meanwhile, my husband is still at the shop finishing a large piece because art doesn't always end at five o'clock.

Some nights we eat together.

Most nights we don't.

We've learned that family isn't measured by perfectly timed dinners—it's measured by making the most of the moments we do get together.

Living in Grace Instead of Perfection

I've stopped chasing perfection.

The house isn't always spotless.

Sometimes frozen pizza saves the day.

Laundry gets folded...eventually.

There are weeks when every appointment, practice, and work obligation feels like a giant game of Tetris.

And that's okay.

I've learned that our kids won't remember whether the baseboards were clean.

They'll remember laughing in sister’s playpen.

Movie nights on the couch.

Dad showing them his newest drawing.

Mom cheering the loudest at their games after working all day.

Those are the moments that matter.

Behind Every Tattoo Is a Story

People often see tattoos.

I see the stories.

The memorial pieces.

The faith tattoos.

The fresh starts.

The reminders of loved ones.

The celebrations.

Watching my husband use the gifts God gave him to create something meaningful reminds me that every career can glorify God when it's done with integrity, compassion, and excellence.

Art has a way of healing.

So does kindness.

The Secret Ingredient Is Teamwork

Our life works because we've learned to be a team.

Some weeks I carry more at home.

Other weeks he does.

We celebrate each other's wins.

We encourage each other through the hard days.

We remind each other that we're building something bigger than careers—we're building a family.

Marriage isn't about keeping score.

It's about serving one another, extending grace, and choosing love on the ordinary days just as much as the exciting ones.

God's Faithfulness in the Chaos

If there's one thing these seasons have taught me, it's that God meets us in the middle of the mess.

He shows up in school hallways.

In tattoo studios.

In overflowing laundry baskets.

In rushed family dinners.

In bedtime prayers.

In early morning coffee.

His faithfulness isn't reserved for quiet mountaintop moments.

Sometimes it's found in the middle of spilled cereal, ringing phones, tattoo appointments, and overstimulation.

And maybe that's where I've grown the most.

Not when life was easy—but when it was full.

Ink, Chaos, and a Whole Lot of Love

Our life may not fit into anyone else's definition of "normal."

It's busy.

It's loud.

It's beautifully imperfect.

It's school calendars taped to the fridge, tattoo sketches spread across the dining room table, backpacks by the front door, coffee reheated three times, and bedtime hugs that make every exhausting day worthwhile.

I'm a full-time school secretary.

A mom of three.

The wife of a tattoo artist.

And while the days can be chaotic, they're also filled with purpose, laughter, faith, and more love than I ever imagined.

This life isn't perfect.

But it's the one God wrote for me.

And honestly...

It's a masterpiece in progress.
